Are free skin care products really free?

Do you really believe that you are getting a free product when you sign up with a company that promises you one? Are free skin care products ever really free? Did you know that you might end up paying hundreds of dollars for the product that you thought you were getting for free? You might be surprised…

Many websites claim to offer free skin care products. They will tell you that you can get free acne products, free teeth whiteners, free resveratrol, etc. However, you should proceed with caution. Most things are never really free.

Good luck with getting touch with a customer service agent, too, or with getting your money returned to you. Customer service agents are extremely difficult to come by, as you will find out when you dial the number and are sent through a series of “press 1” and “press 2.” Once you actually reach someone, they will do your best to try to convince you to either stay on or get lost.

Oh, and this is if you can even locate a number to call to start with. Good luck with that, as well.

Some of these websites are very smart. They start out by claiming that they will give you “free skin care products.” They then proceed to make you fill out a lot of paperwork. One thing they make you give them is your credit card. Why? Some of them claim that it is to prove that you are indeed a real person and not just a computer that randomly fills their paperwork out.

Instead of signing up for free skin care products, what you might have unwittingly signed up for was a trial for a product. This means that your first month is free, but that after that you will be charged $50 per month.

Always make sure that you read the fine print before signing anything. Also, if it’s truly free skin care products then they shouldn’t need anything like your social security number or even your credit card number.

Another thing to look for are the websites that tell you right up front that you will be charged in one month’s time but that you can “dis-enroll” at any moment after you have signed up. Sometimes, these things are extremely difficult to get out of. Also, you might get sidetracked and forget to do it and then you will be charged when the next month rolls around.

It is very important to safeguard your information. Your financial information is your own and if something is free then the person doesn’t need to have it. This doesn’t just happen on fly by night websites that are full of banners and pop-ups, either. Large companies like ones that have even been touted on Oprah’s show, have done it as well.

Just be smart in your endeavors when it comes to free skin care products and remember what your mother taught you-that is something sounds too good to be true then it probably is.
