Serious Skin Care Liquid Laser – What’s All The Hype?
The Serious Skin Care® line of beauty treatments and cosmetics was developed by two friends, esthetician Lesa Stock and international model Jennifer Flavin-Stallone, who wanted to create a skincare line that effectively addressed acne problems. Serious Skin Care was first introduced as an acne treatment line and has since evolved into a complete line of hypo-allergenic solutions for a variety of skin care needs including anti-aging, oil-control and hair removal products. Serious Skin Care has developed into a major player in the skin care industry and produces a complete line of premium skin care and cosmetic products that are sold around the world. Their latest hot offering is the Serious Skin Care Liquid Laser is a hair removal lotion that combines aloe vera and green tea to soothe skin while removing unwanted body or facial hair.
So what is it and how does it work? While the Serious Skin Care Liquid Laser marketing has been dramatic, as seen on YouTube videos and infomercials, the hair removal technique it employs has been around for some time and is known as a depilatory. Depilatories use chemicals to literally melt hair away. The chemicals disrupt the bonds that hold skin and hair cells together. The major side effect of a depilatory is skin irritation because the chemical can melt away skin cells, too. Generally a depilatory is applied to the area with unwanted hair and left on for up to fifteen minutes. During this time the chemical dissolves the hair and the resulting gel is wiped off. How does Serious Skin Care Liquid Laser work? Pretty much the same way. You shake the tube of Liquid Laser and squeeze a small amount onto your fingertips and smooth it onto the area where you have unwanted hair. You use enough to cover your skin with a generous layer and leave it on your skin for 4 minutes. Wipe off a small area with a washcloth and see if the hair comes away. If not, leave the product on for another five minutes. Finally, rinse the skin with warm water and remove the Liquid Laser with a damp washcloth without rubbing excessively, which only irritates skin that is already sensitive due to the chemicals. Most depilatories advise using a hydrocortisone cream after hair removal to soothe irritated skin. The Serious Skin Care Liquid Laser product is no exception in this regard and includes a “Post Laser” lotion that you rub it into the treated area to help soothe the skin and which, with repeated use, they claim will help slow future hair growth. Serious Skin Care Liquid Laser comes with the normal warnings to stop using it and speak to your dermatologist if you notice any skin irritation or reactions to the product. They also instruct that you not leave Liquid Laser on your skin for longer than 10 minutes.
Consumer reaction and reviews have not lived up to the marketing. HSN satisfaction reviews have come in at an average of 2 out of a possible 5– not a ringing endorsement. Comments have included three “does not work”, “not worth the money”, and “no longer a happy customer” comments for every one, “love it”. Buyer beware.
