Skincare for Dry Skin: Tips to Keep You Hydrated
Dry skin is no fun. It’s unsightly and painful and for those reasons making sure that you have the right skincare for dry skin is very important. The following article will give you some tips on how to keep your skin hydrated and refreshed, without costing you an arm and leg.
Drink plenty of water. You’ve probably heard it before, but it’s true. By drinking water, you are keeping your entire body hydrated, including your skin. This is one of the most important tips when it comes to skincare for dry skin. Dehydration is one of the reasons that you get dry skin to begin with. Caffeine can actually dry your skin out.
Avoid tap water when you can. Tap water generally contains fluoride and chlorine-both agents that can dry out your skin. If you must wash your face with tap water, then definitely use a good facial cream as part of your skincare for dry skin regimen. You can also use toners, cleansers, and cosmetic milks that are especially made for dry skin, too.
Use a good moisturizer. Try to avoid using creams and lotions that have mineral oils and that are petroleum based. Gels are actually quite good for dry skin. Also, you might want to try putting lotion on as soon as you get out of the shower or bath, when your skin is still a little damp from the water. Lotions and creams that contain Vitamins A,C, D, and E are great for your skin, as is coconut butter.
Try not to spend so much time in the bath or shower as water can irritate dry skin and make it worse. Use moisturizing body washes and avoid soap when possible. Make sure that you apply lotion as soon as you get out. If possible, try not to bathe everyday so that your skin has a chance to build up some of its natural oils.
Oatmeal soap is a good way to exfoliate your skin while still hydrating it in the process. Oatmeal soap in general can be a good addition to your skincare for dry skin regimen.
Some foods can be beneficial to skincare for dry skin. Try introducing Omega-3foods such as salmon, eggs, and organic butter into your diet. These are also good anti aging foods as well so you will be getting an added benefit by using these foods, too.
A humidifier is a great way to help protect your skin, especially if you live in a cold and dry environment. A humidifier can add moisture to your room which will in turn hydrate your skin. You can purchase them at very little cost at most home stores. Best of all, you will see a difference almost immediately.
Lastly, always apply sunscreen before you head outdoors. Not only will it help keep your skin from becoming burnt and dry, but it will also protect your skin from premature aging as well. If you wear foundation or other types of lotion on your face, make sure they contain sunscreen.
